Blog 5: Changes to my study program
Hi everyone!, My name is María Jesús and today I would like to talk about some changes in the study program of my career, psychology.
Starting with the curriculum, I really like the subjects we have in psychology, but regarding the General Training Courses (CFG in Spanish), I don't really think they should be mandatory. There is a very small percentage of possibilities of getting one you really enjoy, and because of that, with the pass of time, it starts to feel like a load more in the academic charge.
Speaking of technology, I believe it would be a good idea if all classes were recorded; I understand that this would affect student attendance to the actual lecture, but it would be very useful not only for evaluations, but also in cases of emergencies that students can have. It would be reassuring to know you don't have to always be taking notes of everything, and I think it would make classes more enjoyable.
And finally, regarding the teaching methods, I really struggle with paying attention when the classes are just sitting, listening to the teacher and taking notes, so I think it would be more dynamic if we did more group activities in the middle or at the end of a lecture, especially if we could move around the campus while doing them. Some teachers do that, and it makes the classes feel not that heavy, and at the end of that classes I feel like I have learnt more than just taking notes (:
Hi Maria!!! I do not study psychology, but in social work the CFG are also obligatory and I agree with the idea that they should no longer be. I also find it a very good idea to have more playful classes and go out on campus, the teachings would have better results. c:
