Blog 6: English Language Challenges

Hi everyone! My name is María Jesús and today I'm going to be talking about my experience with English, having Engish classes in University and learning the language in general.

This semester is the first time I have an English class since High school, and from the beginning I could notice big differences between both ways of learning the language, for example, it was very surprising for me starting an English class and having to actually practice speaking all the time. I've always been interested in learning a new language, and in High school I was very good in English classes, but this is a totally different experience, in a good way! I think I have improved a lot with University English classes, because like I said before, we have to use the language all the time, and because of that I am not that shy anymore and I feel more comfortable speaking the language. One of the activities of this class that has helped me a lot is the Blog!, I really like writing them and I think it was a great opportunity to learn how to use the language to express myself better when I'm writing.

Even if I've been improving, one thing that I really struggle with is vocabulary. I don't really have a big vocabulary and while writing I noticed sometimes I use the same words all the time, I think that something that can help with that is read more articles and books in English, because that way I can learn new words.

Aside form classes, I use this language a lot in my free time! I like to watch series, movies and videos, so last year I started to wach some of my favorite series dubbed in English, and today I watch and listen everything in English, even podcasts!

In conclusion, I really like English and I have enjoyed this class <3
